Hi, I’m Lina

Culture With Lina is a travel journal about the moments that make a place unforgettable — the festivals, the food, the monuments, and the small everyday rituals you only notice when you slow down.

I started this blog after realizing my favorite travel memories were never the checklists. They were a candlelit flamenco tablao in Seville, the first handful of color thrown at Holi, a street-food stall in Delhi where I burned my tongue and ordered seconds. Every guide here comes from real trips, real notes, and plenty of mistakes you won’t have to repeat.

Where this journal will take you

So far, these pages wander through the places that changed how I travel. In Spain I chased golden light across Plaza de España and learned that dinner is meant to last three hours. In India I danced through Holi, wore my first sari at a wedding, and watched Diwali set a whole city glowing. Morocco taught me to get lost on purpose in the medinas, and Japan showed me how much beauty fits inside a single quiet ritual, from a cup of tea to a cherry-blossom picnic. New destinations join the map every season, so the list keeps growing — and I’d love for you to grow it with me.

What you’ll find here

  • Festivals — first-hand guides to celebrations like Diwali, Holi, La Tomatina and Las Fallas: when to go, what to expect, and how to take part respectfully.
  • Food — the dishes, markets and street stalls worth planning a day around.
  • Monuments & places — the stories behind landmarks like the Taj Mahal and Plaza de España, beyond the postcard photo.
  • Travel tips — practical planning help, including our free Travel Budget Calculator.

My mission

My mission with Culture With Lina is simple: to help you travel deeper, not just farther. I want you to arrive at a festival knowing the story behind it, order street food with confidence, and stand in front of a monument understanding why it matters to the people who built it. Culture isn’t a museum exhibit — it’s alive, and the best trips are the ones where you’re invited in. If one guide here helps you say yes to an experience you would have walked past, this blog has done its job.

Plan smarter with the free Travel Budget Calculator

Dream trips still need real numbers, so I built a free Travel Budget Calculator to make the money side easier. Tell it where you’re going, how long you’re staying and how you like to travel, and it gives you a realistic estimate for flights, accommodation, food and experiences — so you can save with a plan instead of a guess. No sign-up needed and no spreadsheet skills required. Try it before you book anything.

Who is Coco?

Coco is my travel companion and the unofficial mascot of this blog — you’ll meet us both on the Lina & Coco page.
